Which is why shots stop going missing
Missing footage is usually a sorting problem, not a memory problem. Remove the choice and the problem largely goes away.
Why a spreadsheet cannot do this
A spreadsheet sorts one column at a time. Sort by location for the shoot day and the story order is destroyed. Keep the story order and you spend the day scrolling between rows eleven apart. Keep two copies and they diverge within an hour. There is no version of this that works, which is why it is the most common cause of missing footage.
