Podcast Video Shot List Template
A video podcast is a long, unrepeatable, multi-camera record. Almost nothing can be reshot, so the setup has to be right before you start, and the shot list is mostly a pre-flight check.
The second half of this list is what most podcasts forget: the shots that let you cut vertical clips afterwards.

Checklist
The shot list
Camera setup
- 01Wide two-shot covering both participants
- 02Single on host, medium
- 03Single on guest, medium
- 04Optional overhead or side angle for variety
- 05All cameras matched for white balance and exposure
- 06All cameras rolling before the conversation starts
Audio
Podcast audio cannot be fixed. Check it, then check it again.
- 07Separate mic and separate track per participant
- 08Backup recording, independent of the main system
- 09Levels checked on headphones with both people talking
- 10Room tone, 30 seconds
- 11Clap or sync point at the start for aligning tracks
Room and detail
- 12Wide of the studio or room
- 13Detail of the setup — mics, headphones, table
- 14Hands, coffee, notes
- 15Guest arriving or being introduced
- 16Anything referenced during the conversation
Clip-ready shots
Film these deliberately or you will be cropping 16:9 into vertical and losing half the frame.
- 17Vertical-safe framing on each single
- 18Centred composition with headroom for captions
- 19Clean start and end on each strong answer
- 20Guest introduction line delivered separately, to camera
- 21Three to five talking points marked live for clipping
Tips for this kind of shoot
- Roll everything before anyone speaks and clap for sync. Aligning four tracks without a sync point wastes an afternoon.
- Mark timestamps live when something clip-worthy happens. Finding it later in two hours of footage is far harder.
- Separate audio track per person, always. A single mixed track cannot be fixed.

Storeyz keeps your shots in story order for planning and regroups them by location for the day — then you tick them off on your phone as you get them.
