Event Videography Shot List

Event video is a race against a schedule you do not control. The programme dictates the order, so the shot list has to be organised the same way — by what happens when, not by what looks good.

The one thing consistently missed: branding and sponsor coverage. Clients ask for it every time and it can only be filmed before the room fills.

Tips for this kind of shoot

  • Get the branding and sponsor shots before doors open. It is the most commonly requested and most commonly missed footage at any event.
  • Lock off a wide on the stage and let it run. It covers you for everything you miss while moving.
  • Grab attendee interviews during the first break. After lunch people leave and the energy drops.

Use this list on your next shoot

Storeyz keeps your shots in story order for planning and regroups them by location for the day — then you tick them off on your phone as you get them.

Questions

What do event clients always ask for that gets missed?

Sponsor and branding coverage, and wide shots of a full room. Both have narrow windows — branding before doors, full room during the main session — and both are impossible to recreate afterwards.
