Testimonial Video Shot List Template
A testimonial fails when the customer says "they were great to work with" and nothing else. The shot list matters, but the question list matters more — you are filming answers, and vague questions produce unusable ones.
This covers both.

Checklist
The shot list
Interview setup
- 01Wide showing the customer in their own environment
- 02Primary framing, medium, slightly off-centre
- 03Second angle, tighter, 40° off
- 04Cutaway of hands
- 05Listening and thinking beats
- 0630 seconds of room tone
Question structure
Ask for the story, not the compliment. Answers with numbers and specifics are the ones you can use.
- 07Introduce yourself and what you do
- 08What was the situation before?
- 09What was the specific problem costing you?
- 10What made you look for a solution?
- 11Why did you choose us over the alternatives?
- 12What was the first thing that changed?
- 13What is the measurable result?
- 14Who would you recommend this to?
- 15Anything you would say to someone considering it?
B-roll
- 16Customer at work in their environment
- 17The product or service in use
- 18Their team or premises
- 19Any evidence of the result — screens, output, product
- 20Exterior and signage
Tips for this kind of shoot
- Ask every interviewee to include the question in the answer. "The problem was..." rather than "It was slow."
- Push for a number. One specific figure is worth a paragraph of praise.
- Film them somewhere that says what they do. A neutral wall wastes half the frame.

Storeyz keeps your shots in story order for planning and regroups them by location for the day — then you tick them off on your phone as you get them.
